Manchester City are on the verge of completing a deal for Harry Maguire for world-record of £80million.
Maguire has been chased by neighbors Manchester United since two seasons ago but United fails to match Leicester City asking price but City are prepared to pay Leicester City £80 million and the England centre-half a whopping £280,000-a-week to quit Leicester and move to the Etihad.
Recall that Maguire signed a new five-year deal with Leicester last September when United failed to prise from him the King Power Stadium and he was not looking to move.
But he has told friends that the offer from Pep Guadiola side is too good to reject possibly because the Citizens will play Champions League football next season, and City boss Pep Guardiola believes he can bring him in a club-record deal ahead of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However United are refusing to give up on Maguire and Solskjaer is pushing hard to land his top centre-half target.
Guardiola sees Maguire as the ideal replacement for former captain, Vincent Kompany, who quit the Etihad club at the end of the season to return to Belgium to take over as player-manager at Anderlecht.
If the deals goes through, Harry Maguire will be the most expensive defender in the world surpassing the £75 million Liverpool paid Southampton for Van Djik.
