Meet Kazuyoshi Miura The Oldest Footballer Who Still Plays Professional Football At The Age Of 53 (Photos)





Have you ever wondered or imagined a footballer could play up to the age of 53 and scoring at the age of 50. You are not alone, I have thought as much. He is not a goalkeeper but an on field player who plies his trade in Japanese 🏯 league. He is way older than Arteta, Frank Lampard and Ole Gunnar Solsjaer.



Miura holds the records for being the oldest footballer and oldest goalscorer in worldwide He holds the Guinness record for world’s oldest goalscorer in a professional leagues at the age of 50 and, as of 2020, is the oldest active professional footballer in the world at 53. His elder brother Yasutoshi was also a professional footballer.



“My father was in Mexico in 1970 to watch the World Cup,” Miura says, speaking via a translator. “He filmed the matches by 8mm video camera. At that time, Pele was playing, and I grew up watching the video taken by my father.”



The Japanese 🏯 legend started playing football since 1982 and has played for popular football clubs which includes Santos, Genoa, Sydney FC and a host of other clubs. Miura was the first Japanese footballer to play in Italy.
