Miura holds the records for being the oldest footballer and oldest goalscorer in worldwide He holds the Guinness record for world’s oldest goalscorer in a professional leagues at the age of 50 and, as of 2020, is the oldest active professional footballer in the world at 53. His elder brother Yasutoshi was also a professional footballer.
“My father was in Mexico in 1970 to watch the World Cup,” Miura says, speaking via a translator. “He filmed the matches by 8mm video camera. At that time, Pele was playing, and I grew up watching the video taken by my father.”
