Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has reportedly split from his long-term girlfriend after eight years of dating.
The footballer, 23, and Lucia Loi, also 23, are thought to have called it quits the relationship three months ago, according to The Sun.
Sources told the paper that they broke up amid lockdown pressures but still have a “mutual love and respect” and there’s still hope that they might “reconcile” after some time apart.
“There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future,” the source said.
Marcus Rashford has recently spent much of his time fighting to support underprivileged children.
Last year, he helped raise £20million for kids to receive free school meals during the pandemic.
Most recently, he launched a book club to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds and encourage them to read.
The book club will see Macmillan Children’s Books donate 50,000 free books through children’s food charity Magic Breakfast to reach children in more than 850 primary schools across England and Scotland.
The aim of the club is to work closely with schools to get books for disadvantaged children.
The book club will launch in June 2021 with illustrated time travel adventure A Dinosaur Ate My Sister by Pooja Puri, illustrated by Allen Fatimah aran.
Mr Rashford said: “For too long, the joy of reading has been restricted by whether or not a family has the contingency budget to purchase books.
“The children who often miss out are those on free school meals and users of breakfast clubs, who more than likely need fiction, and non-fiction, to escape reality from time to time.
“We haven’t been affording these children the option of reading for fun but that changes today.
“Everyone is aware of my experiences with breakfast club – it brightened up the start of my day, it stabilised the school day for me, allowed me to engage in reading and allowed me to form life-long friendships.”
Mr Rashford will also publish his own illustrated non-fiction children’s book, written with Carl Anka, on May 27.
