UEFA's Technical Observer panel has selected its 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season which includes 4 players from Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively while Manchester City, Liverpool and PSG shares the remaining three positions in the team.
Karim Benzema who scored 15 goals in 12 Champions League games and a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or this year was selected alongside his partner in destroying teams, Vinicius Jr, has been named the tournament's young player of the season.
In the 2021-22 season, the 21-year-old scored four goals and assisted on six others.
Real midfielder Luka Modric and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was named man of the match in Paris, join the pair in the Champions League team of the season.
Runners-up Liverpool is represented by four players, including defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and midfielder Fabinho.
The season's team is completed by Paris St-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne, and Chelsea's Eden Hazard.
It means that the entire starting XI consists of Real Madrid players or players who were eliminated by Los Blancos.
However, some fans were completely outraged by Uefa's selections.
Some were perplexed by the selection of Mbappe, who had six goals and six assists in eight matches before PSG were eliminated in the second round.
"What the hell is Mbappe doing there?" one perplexed fan wondered.
"Mbappe went out in the last 16," said another. Salah outscored him and advanced to the final. But yeah, that makes sense."
"Mbappe over Robert Lewandowski!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂" exclaimed a third.
"In the Champions League, Lewandowski scored twice as many goals as Mbappe!! Only two goals and one assist fewer than Benzema. Lmao!"
Meanwhile, other supporters were unhappy with the team that was chosen.
