Selling Kelvin De Bruyne - Chelsea's Biggest Transfer Mistake

KDB’s transfer to Wolfsburg is the biggest mistake Chelsea made in transfers. That mistake was more significant than the failed transfers of Morata, Bakayoko, and Drinkwater. KDB never got to play consistently for the club in the 2013–14 season, made just two PL appearances, and was sold off to Wolfsburg in the January transfer window.

KDB became the beast he’s now in Wolfsburg. He broke the Bundesliga record for most assists in the 2014–15 season and helped Wolfsburg finish second in Bundes Liga below “you know which team” thus ensuring UCL qualification for 2015–16.

After just over a year after moving to Germany, Man City called for the young Belgian. They broke the English transfer records by signing him for £60m while everybody in the English media mocked it. Well English media, the joke’s on you now!

Six years later, KDB is one of the best midfielder in the world. His passes are a football heritage. Physically dominant, he’s a player with great footballing intelligence and vision. He has been the best player in the star-studded Man City side over the years and has been a vital part of Belgium’s golden generation. He has won 3 PL titles, and with his four goals yesterday, he has inched closer to winning his 4th PL title.

I won’t be surprised if he bags his 3rd consecutive PFA Player of the Year trophy this season, a hat tricks of the awards. He’ll become the first player to win the award thrice by doing that.

KDB scored a 17-minute first-half hattrick last night, scoring all three goals with his weaker left foot.

He became the third central midfielder to score four goals in a PL game. Frank Lampard did it twice, and Georginio Wijnaldum was the other player.

KDB has 19 goals, and 13 assists from 43 games played in all competitions this season.
In 2021, KDB reached 100 assists for Man City. Last night, he completed 200 goal involvements for Man City. He is also the quickest to 50 PL assists.

KDB helped Man City become the first PL team to win five straight games by three or more goals.

Man City also became the first club to score 90+ goals in 10 different seasons in the English top-flight. 4 of them came after they signed KDB.

He dropped the Erling Haaland celebration yesterday, which got me quivering. The KDB-Haaland duo is going to be ruthless.

I can only imagine what it would have been if he got enough chances at Chelsea.
