Will Signing Of Haaland Signal Continuous Dominance Of Mancity In Premier League?
Erling Haaland to Manchester City for £63m is a done deal! It'll be announced next week.
It's gonna be a huge signing for the club. Man City are adding a world-class young striker to a squad already considered to be the greatest. It takes a player some time to adjust to City's sophisticated system, but I don't think it'll be much of an issue for the young Norwegian. His biggest attributes are his pace and finishing. The thought of Haaland getting at the end of KDB's or Cancelo's crosses and burying them into the opposition net is so fearful. KDB will finally over-perform his xA. City will be even more lethal on counters due to his pace and they will find new ways to add goals. City are also signing an exciting Argentine striker and winger Juan Alvarez.
This means City's domination in PL will continue for the major part of this decade and it'll soon turn into a one-horse race. Innocent bottom table teams will be thrashed on regular basis. It's bad for the league, really bad.
Klopp might have transformed Liverpool FC into a team with literally no weaknesses, but even they are running out of steam. Their draw against Spurs was an indication of that. Liverpool will find it tougher to keep up with City from next season.
Chelsea have their own set of issues. The team is highly inconsistent. With many players leaving and under new ownership, it'll be quite some time before we can see Chelsea competing for PL.
Other teams are nowhere near City. Arsenal and Man United are in the rebuilding phase. Arsenal have improved but not to an extent of competing for the league. Spurs have a great record against City but are inconsistent. It'll take Newcastle 4-to 5 seasons to attract top stars and begin another Arab-money success story.
PL has lost its competitiveness as far as the title race is concerned. We must look at Serie A. It regained its competitiveness after the fall of Juventus. At this point, if not at Chelsea, I would have loved to see Haaland at United, Arsenal, or Liverpool for the sake of the league.
