Ralf Rangnick's tenure as Austria manager began with a resounding Nations League victory in Croatia.
Rangnick struggled as Manchester United's interim manager last season, missing out on Champions League qualification.
However, he began his tenure in Austria with a thrashing of the 2018 World Cup finalists.
Marko Arnautovic, Michael Gregoritsch, and Marcel Sabitzer all scored to secure a comfortable victory.
Arnautovic, now at Bolgona in Serie A, scored the first goal of the Rangnick era four minutes before the break with a fine 20-yard strike.
Gregoritsch scored from 12 yards shortly after halftime, and Sabitzer added a fantastic third from 25 yards three minutes later.
Croatia brought on Luka Modric, who won the Champions League with Real Madrid last week, but it was too little, too late.
Rangnick had announced last Sunday that he would leave his position as a consultant at Old Trafford to focus on the Austria job.
He has the task of leading them forward after they failed to qualify for this year's World Cup, losing to Wales in a play-off semi-final.
And his debut couldn't have gone any better.
The 63-year-old has managed 11 different club sides in his long and varied career, but this is his first shot at international management.
