Do You Agree? Ronaldo Arrival Made Manutd Worst Than It Were
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo supposed to be a blessing to any team but some people believes that the return of the Portuguese superstar to Old Trafford derailed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preparations and consequently caused his dismissal.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals for United, but the performance levels of the rest of the team dropped significantly.
The squad, which finished second in the 2020-21 season, dropped four places despite signing the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Ronaldo.
And mentioning three players who have been negatively impacted by Ronaldo’s arrival, Neville said on Overlap: “I think at the start of the season, he created a problem straight away with (Edinson) Cavani. [He was] being pleaded to stay and lead the attack for the year, but when they signed Ronaldo, Cavani was shot then and finished.”
He added, “It upset the dynamic in the dressing room for Bruno (Fernandes). I think Bruno looks up to him like a godfather in Portugal so it made him feel a bit inferior to what he was before.”
“It made Maguire a little bit inferior as captain just naturally – nothing from Ronaldo’s doing this. Just his presence itself on the pitch means everyone’s looking to Cristiano with Harry trying to establish himself as Manchester United captain.”
Recently former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool midfielder, has accused Cristiano Ronaldo of being to blame for Manchester United's poor season last year, claiming the Portuguese exacerbated the club's woes.
Last season, Ronaldo returned to United and led the team in Premier League scoring with 18 goals in 30 games.
Unfortunately, his goals were unable to propel the team to the Champions League, and the Red Devils will compete in the Europa League next season.
Carragher's revelation follows claims on Saturday, June 2 that Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United if a good offer is offered to the club.
In response to the news that Ronaldo wanted to go, Carragher questioned rumors last summer that Ronaldo rejected Manchester City in favor of United.
“#Ronaldo did exactly what I thought he would do, score goals but make the team worse,” he wrote with a laughing emoji.
“The transfer request also kills the idea he turned down Man City because of his love for Man United “
Now my question is did Ronaldo Arrival Made Manutd Worst Than It Were?
