Does Antony Worth The £83m Manchester United Spent On Him?

To begin, I believe Manchester United could have done better in bringing in the talented Brazilian. I was hesitant to write about it until I knew for sure that Antony would be a United player. Furthermore, I would need to know the exact fee for the Brazilian international in order to truly predict whether Antony is worth the money.

Manchester United has now paid a total of £85 million, including add-ons. I'd say right away that Manchester United could have gotten him for a lower price. If they had been more efficient, they would have brought him in earlier in the summer to help him settle in and meet the players before pre-season. If they had gotten him in July, I believe they could have gotten him for £60-£75.

Nonetheless, £85 million is the price, and I believe he is capable of justifying it. I am convinced that he brings something new to Manchester United. For starters, he is a left-footed player, which "The Red Devils" desperately need. When he comes in, I believe he will provide more mobility for Erik Ten Hag's tactics. Not only that, but Antony is well-known for his ball skills, which is unsurprising given his Brazilian heritage. He is also a very creative player with excellent passing ability.

Antony's style of play does not resemble that of a prolific goal scorer, but his best attribute is his creativity, which United sorely lacks. To truly answer the question, however, I would say it remains to be seen. I know it's a dull answer, but it's difficult to make assumptions right now. All I can say is that what United is considering in terms of transfers is very encouraging. Bringing in Casemiro and Antony is a step in the right direction for a club looking to rebuild. If last season taught us anything, it's that good transfers do not always predict a good season, as was the case with United last year.

Finally, depending on the circumstances, Antony is more than capable of justifying his price tag.
